Why are you here?

Many years ago, we had a dream: To go to Japan.

​

But after we did that, we had another one and this one was the real deal!

​

We had all become afflicted with the uncurable, indomitable, often fatal disease known as Wanderlust.

​

This disease, which ravages those unfortunate enough to become infected has naught but one treatment to stave off the breakdown of mental faculties: to bugger off and not stop until you hit the horizon.

Thus was the birth of a true aspiration, one that over the years grew, matured and eventually graduated emotional university with honours, stepping out into the wide world as a fully developed obsession.

The only issue from there was how on Earth to go forward.

​

We lulled over and explored many ideas: Converted buses, cars, motorbikes, walking, hitchhiking, drugs; but all seemed unsustainable for the long-term.

​

Then, it hit, the idea which provided all that we required to live a life of adventure and travel.

​

Sailing.

​

This reveal would have had a damn sight more impact if it wasn't bleedingly obvious from the very top of this website.

​

So, really that brings us back to the question, why should you continue reading?

​

Well, through our journey from soft-skinned mainlanders to eternally damp mariners, we have come into possession of the good stuff: Information.

​

This is the real deal! It'll get you where you need to be man! Top-shelf, purified, pharmaceutical-grade you know what I'm sayin?

​

We got it all! The how, the where, the why, the when, what to do, what not to do (well, mostly what not to do).

​

No! Wait, wait....

What about pretty pictures?

Everyone likes pretty pictures!

Some of them are pretty anyway.

Alright, alright, I'll cut to the chase.

It's a guide, really, along with amusing anecdotes, photos, some mechanical info where possible, hazards, risks, tutorials and information I've picked up from experience and RYA courses to help anyone interested in taking the plunge and getting just as sore, wet, tired, bored, excited, hungry, happy, sad, smelly, but most of all satisfied as we have become.
