Hugr

The Spirit of Adventure

Hugr is our home, our transport and our companion in our adventures.

She is an Icelander 40, a steel-hulled tank of a vessel with the beauty and grace of an antelope.

In other words: a hazard to others.

She has character (see: is old, scarred and grumpy) and we adore her for it.

Renovation and restoration are (and probably always will be) ongoing, but someday, our ultimate goal will be realised and we'll have her back out on the deep Atlantic, getting unnecessarily damp, whipped by ropes and playing fishing-boat slalom in new and interesting places!

Haydn

All Sail, No Rudder

I am the majority funder of this escapade so far and generally take the roles of general handyman and navigator of the crew.

I've sailed over 2500 NM so far and spent the entire time tweaking, fixing and sighing loudly as more becomes in need of tweaking and fixing.

I'm the writer of the group, currently working on a book (Not about sailing funnily enough).

Aside from sailing, I busy myself with pretty much anything that is able to keep my attention for more than five minutes, including:

Philosophy, History, 3D Modelling, Photography, Game Design (Attempted, I should say), RPGs (The genre of game, not the destructo-tube), poker, chess and overtone singing.

I have thus far obtained my Day Skipper (And as a result, my ICC), a Diesel Engine Certificate, First Aid Training, Yachtmaster Theory (Practical Offshore is coming when I have the cash to spare), Sea Survival Training and, of course, VHF Certificate.

I'll likely be sharing my experience in these areas, which will hopefully be helpful to newcomers and anyone looking to brush up on Navigation.

As the general handyman, I'll also be covering some vital maintenance work, likely problem areas and how to tackle them, jury-rigging (Which is vital for issues at sea) and basic electrics.

Tom

All Flavour, No Taste

Seems to be allergic to writing his own bio.

Much more at home drawing.

So, I drew him a picture of a word out of words so he gets the message.

A literal fox

Arf? Scree?
